Unit Overview

In this unit, kids work as materials engineers, considering the trade-offs of each material in their space gloves to help astronauts complete one of three missions to an asteroid, Earth’s moon, or Mars.

Core Program Unit Components

The Engineering Adventures curriculum turns anywhere, anytime into engineering time. Students learn to think like engineers, completing real-world challenges that are exciting and engaging.

The Teacher Guide includes preview pages with materials and preparation information, an adventure guide with step-by-step instructions for the educator, and one engineering journal for kids. We suggest copying an engineering journal for each child participating, as they provide spaces to record findings and reflect on learning.

The Digital Unit provides easy access to an online version of the unit. Convenient, online access to the Teacher Guide and resources makes it easy to seamlessly project to the class, deliver STEM learning virtually, and prep for lessons any time, anywhere.  The Digital Unit is available as a one year subscription.

Materials kits include all the supplies needed for 24 kids to complete the engineering activities in this unit.
